For most of my life I've enjoyed the intimate presence of God. For most of my life I've stopped here, selfishly hoarding this immeasurable privilege. I shirked off the great responsibility that comes with great power. I am called to be a pastor, priest and rabbi to the people in my life. Every Christian has this calling. "We are a chosen people. A kingdom of priests, Gods Holy nation, His very own possession. This is so you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of darkness and into his wonderful light" 1 Peter 2:9 Just imagine what our world could look like if we didn't stop short most of the time? We could show others the goodness of God.

I walked into a bar once, it caught me square in the forehead. Fortunately I was wearing my sunglasses and they took the worst of it.

No. It means you have to speak in a Brooklyn accent, wear a stiff collar, and smell like the farm.

Cool! Does this mean we can also ask really tough questions of God (rabbi) and live with more discipline and reverence (priest) and encourage others in their faith (pastor)? ;)

I've had this trait for as long as I can remember. As soon as I get the hang of something, I seem to lose the ability to remember what it was like before I had the hang of it. I need to constantly remind myself to view things with fresh eyes. This definitely helped. Thanks, Brad!

Good thoughts, I agree.

The video, I'm not sure. I just read "Beautiful Outlaw" by John Eldredge and he says that an unbiased person, reading the gospels for the first time, would come to the inevitable conclusion that religion is the enemy. I tend to agree. That's not to say everything about religion is all bad, but few things ever are. At the most, I'd agree with James, who said, "Hey, if you have to be religious, be religious about helping people in need." (my paraphrase). I would tend to ask, "What about religion helps people connect with God and live out his gospel?" I suppose it boils down to how one defines religion.

I wonder if these tensions are the fuel for most of the arguments among Christians. We have long heated discussions, convinced that we are right and they are wrong when we're really just fighting on different sides of a paradox like the faith vs. works debate.
Also, would you put the Jesus hates religion video into Biblical vs. Christlike category?
